Hi All

We are growing this spring and summer by one new member. He will be with from time to time as we work out the arrangements, add new songs, his ours and others. We are sure happy to have Luke back with us and though it will be on a limited basis the band is anxious for him to be full time ASAP. His vocal and guitar work take us to another level. For those of you that remember when he was with us before we promise our sound will develope far beyond where it was.. Welcome home Luke.

I have seen a small snipett of the beginnings of our revised website and it begs to be put in place. So with our new sound will come a new look , however I promise to be without socks this summer as usual. Some items must remain in place or we will reverse polarity.

Also a thanks to many, without the hugs, smiles and encourgement Bill and I would be on walkers.

Just a quick note to the bold that venture here.. Brother Short wants to wish all a Merry Christmas and a fruitful New Year.. Yes we know there are other events surrounding this festive season but we are a Merry Christmas type band. We do dig Santa.. This time of year always brings back one vivid memory. Once in a far-a-way land of Oh hi oh, there was a boy of four. We will call him Charles Earl as that is what he heard most from his mother after getting into all that was forbidden... Now to the memory.. My brother was aged ten years and of vast knowledge. I remember Christmas Eve 1952, it was late at night and the sandman was not going to sedate me, not on this night. I recall my brother Steve calling me to the window, "commear and I will show you sumptin" I could tell by the sound of his call that whatever it was I must see. "Look there". Well the night was clear and crunchy cold and as I looked up it seemed like we were peering straight into the Heavens. He was pointing at the brightest star I had ever seen, "See that, its the star that led the Wisemen to where Jesus was born". Looking out of that window and gazing at the star is as vivid to me now as it was then. To me Christmas is a small boy not afraid to believe in Christmas and the Spirit that will always surround it. Thanks to my brother I know it happened!

One more note: To a gig we just had the privilege to attend.

We played for a group of Vietnam Vets at Rocky Gap State Park. Never have we been so welcomed by a group of folks where we had met so few of the people before. We had fun, we brought back some memories , we got to play our salute "Soldier" and we thanked them and we still we owe so much. Early in the eve as I looked over the crowd it came to me, this is the engine that revved America into overdrive. Boomers all, some had seen three wars, many two, but proud all , and they wore it well. We were honored that we could perform for them! To vets everywhere .. Thank you.

Hello to all our friends that sometimes enjoy the ramblings of this odd combo. We remain steadfast to commit to nothing, achieve in spurts , grind forward, bloom late, smile often. Now to the point of Blabber: the latest from Pat Savage. It has brought joy and a ray of sun to the waning winter. Its a step, a long time coming for a deserving Greg Short and a victory for the band and our friends. It renews the desire to continue writing and seek those that would add solid songs to their work. Here I will promise, we will record them also, but the key is to look beyond ourselves, and to pay more omage to practice and writing dues. Our last push at intense rehearsing was vetoed by Someone above. It wasn't directed at us just a renewal of the water table and bad timing on our part. Alas we set in again, the snow will go, and the strings will sing once more on the four corners where the Reeds Ville.

We have a good friend that we have met only by the written word. I have had a couple of chat sessions with him and one thing that came to me during the dialogue.... When we meet beer will flow. That was all I needed , after that was established all seemed inconsequential. Men do after all, have priorities.

We are most earnestly looking to the warm that's flowing our way. ............Now last: Thank you my friends, brothers, and sisters for the heart felt concern I received. My son and I needed the spiritual lift. To see him eating one hour after a surgery that was dubious at best reminded me once more of the power of prayer. I am not sure if I got back to all I have heard from, hopefully if I missed you its understood with the following. During that week , son was brave, dad was a basket case. At that statement I know many out there that are asking, "Wasn't he a basket case going in?" True, but last week is was a spinning basket.. I love you all and here's to live music everywhere!

Fri.Oct. 22nd

Hello and sorry I have been so remiss in the updates. Part of the problem is that there has been little to report and a general poor to low thought level from the partially aged one. I have been pounding nails, dry walling, and cutting myself for pleasure and relaxation in the realm of construction. However enough of my antics, for a really good show we need to follow Bill as he rebuilds Hadring land and creates The Taj Ma Harding in the burg. What a talented bunch we are. As long as we have months to do a simple task it will be done. News flash.... Mr Short's auto lot, otherwise known as 7/92 Auto is in operation. Too soon for a grand opening but stay tuned car buffs and buffettes!

Now the good things: The CD Brother Short was remastered and I just listened. Good thing I had on Depends. Yep its that much better. To those that have the old version, please hold them , typo's, wrong song order,etc. we will get you a new one, this is only right as we owe so much to folks that have helped us, and you can compare yourself. I was expecting a subtle difference, I was wrong. I am so good at the wrong thing, I have it down! But I did the right thing! I could write a volume on what I just heard. Not blowing our horn here because we recorded for a veritable lick and a promise with a broken shoestring budget. It was fun, hard work, and a load of hours went into it. So over a year later and after going through over 1,350 Brother Short CD's its now better. If someone would have just given us, say, a hundred thou. or so, this would have taken much less time. Bottom line: the Brother Short CD is new and improved. How 'bout that!

Nov 13th. We have a show in Ohio. As it stands we will have in attendance all that took part on the above CD. At times there will be eight folk on stage. If we work at this, and we are, it will rank up there in giant hoot status. The show is at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio and there is a link on the schedule page.We are currently rehearsing for the show and having as much fun digging up old tunes, pickin with Luke, soon with Mike, as a bunch of fellers should have without payin money. We just seem to be fallin into the groovin a little easier and I think folks that have heard us over the past couple of months have maybe detected such. Not sure just guessing, but we are leaving places with massive smiles, and are hoping we helped others feel a little lighter of heart. Music to us is as much a part of us as our soul and we continue not to lose sight on how damn lucky and fortunate we are to be able to continue. We have no money by toady's standard yet we are so rich! Ed and Jana thanks for the place to rehearse that is handy, comfortable, familiar and friendly to music, also to Deb. for the prodigious promo effort in Ohio. Love Brother Short

Hi all, and its nice to pen again. Not much to chatter about but here is the latest. We commence recordin 08/11/2004. If it goes to plan, we will finish 'bout this time next year with two brand new CD's.... I will write more soon regarding the details and other what knots...its been awhile so I just wanted to let you know I was still gimping and being a general pain-in-the-ass to all that know me. Hope the summer is so far gentle, warm and renewing. Please know that this band feels blessed, due to a few great fans that don't ask nothing 'cept to keep playin. To this we take comfort, stay poor, humble, and thank you from our hearts and ever dimming minds!

Sat. July 3rd

Hello and here is a quick update on what's happing with us. Regarding the Brothers video shoot. As with all good things there are delays and we of course are no exception. The new target is the end of August. When we got the story board it was obvious that the cast was going to be extremely important and we want to do it right. Being musicians this meant it would not be done quickly. So we delay!!

We wish all a safe July 4th, and let's pray next year we find ourselves in peace. No matter your views of the country, the world or politics please give a thought to all the young folk spread hither and yon and their families. As a group we are across the board on our opinions but we all hope for the same result. That's what makes where we are so attractive to so many elsewhere. We are blessed, we are lucky and we are thankful...

The new web person is now working on the site and we will hopefully have a new display airing in the coming months. Someone answered the call and felt our pain. What we have got us going and worked. An old fan of our music finished having babies and now has turned her attention to us. I can hear many thoughts happening now, ie "she has her hands full now, three babies were easy and now she has to deal with these four" ... stay tuned.....thanks all for the support... Brother Short

Hello

This will be a Short newsletter. Several things up and Vs me straining my brain I will be brief. Thanks to all that gave me the alert regarding the schedule. The Website transfer took longer than expected and of course as with all new things came new problems. I can report that most are solved and an improved site will soon follow. Stay tuned!

Regarding HGTV. The show of Ed and Jana's home will be aired July 11th and I think the time is 10 PM. It will be a two parter and as info comes in I will update. Also more is coming in regards to the HGTV folks. Ed and I have been in contact with them and they are considering a music video shoot with a certain band.. Too soon to let out details and to say for certain but they liked what they heard and with luck more will follow. To this point we must thank Ed and Jana for including us in the shoot and no matter what happens, because of what we were told regarding our music by the HGTV crew it was a great energy boost and enough in itself.

Brother Short finally got to venture to Sunshine Daydreams. We rate it a must see. Hard to describe but if you like peaceful country settings its worth a visit. People like Charlie Daniels go there! If its good enough for him then please count us in. www.sunshinedreams.com We return there June 26th along with other acts{to be named} and the effort to get there is well worth putting forth. Here also more information will be posted soon. We will have tickets available at our shows and of course Leah from our BroSho yahoo group will also have them.

Hello and welcome to our world such as it is......

The date is Feb 28th and the following is what has been and what we are doin:

We have made a decision and another CD is in the works. In fact it could be 3 CD's............ One will have all new songs, another will be some new some veneratied, some covers but none the less fun. No. III will be mostly songs past, some new and with more hints of people that also perform but reside in other combos. {editor note here} 3 CD's at once should bring a chuckle! To quote a friend of mine its a "we'll see".This is all hear say so please don't repeat it as its very very secret. That is it on the recording end except for one other item. A new friend has ask to record Harley. We hope ya'll visit his website and send along encouragement. He is Pat Savage. He currently resides in Amsterdam and performs throughout Europe. http://www.patsavage.net We of course wish him well and our hope is that he sells millions. We have heard quite a bit of his material and Harley is in for a face lift. We love our version but can only anticipate with what it will soon undergo. Think sax! Again pay his site a visit!!!!!

A big bless you to Ed and Jana. Many reasons here but of course food always comes to my mind first. On the smaller note look for their home to soon be aired on HGTV. A groovy program about the ecentric folk that turn odd places into wonderful dwellings, artist in their own right . The program will air in two parts. Number one will be the cramped conditions they were able to convert into living space. I have seen before and after pics, tune in for what they accomplished in what looked like Berlin after the second world war. Part two will target their profession{s}. Jana in the wee people domain ala , daycare and Ed in the Digital Domain ala video recordings of people such as Brother Short. To learn more tune into http://www.wvatv.com . We hopefully will appear somewhere in the program,due to air soon. The folks that came down to do the shoot were fantastic, warm and so so friendly. I think Ed and Jana left them with a taste of what hospitatily means in WV. Oh yea Ed was able to secure a quanity of the local brew for the filming, heck there I go.....back to food and now beer. Ok check out the after hour video on Ed's website to see the producer of the show in rare form, and stay tuned to find out when the show airs. We will post it as will Ed's site. In the interm the boys and I are set up on the DD stage bothering Ed and Jana at every chance we get. Nice to have a pratice site where we can rev up and play in 5th gear. ......

New tunes are in the works. Our writing pace has out-distanced our learning stride so we have had to thin the schedule to assist on honing new tunes. This is an odd profession that demands creativity with a beans and franks wallet. So we write with hopes and dreams that a song will sell and we keep in mind always a close knit group of people that have encouraged, fed, hugged and stayed by us. We will always look upon these past years as a success due only to the fantastic people and friends we have made. Speaking of which lets all give a warm thought to Paul and Molly up in Garrett County. They resided in an ice world this winter.

Speaking of warming. Greg Jr. dropped by this morning and was in full prep to go fishin. The quick glance at the flash in Greg's eye signaled that the time for fishing licence was nearing. Native trout fishing in the mountains of WV is next o kin to meditation 'cept better. I have spent several hours{not nearly enough} in the hunt for these highly tuned denisions of the creeks. They are quick to bolt at a shadow or a snap of a twig and it brings a whole new perception to man vs fish. We will be stalking them soon. I will report...............
